2d - Anagram of "drama" around I (one) and "OH" (expression of disappointment) - Radio Ham was a character in Hancock's Half Hour (I think)

18a - "odds" = SP (starting price) then ACE (expert) and BAR (except) - definition is "key"

Thanks Brendan... didn't know SP was short for starting price.

“The Radio Ham” is an episode of Hancock’s Half Hour where he takes up amateur radio and ends up playing a game of chess over it, which he loses to his great frustration, which makes “one with expression of disappointment in funny show” rather good!

Thanks Jono, that rings a bell now you mention it. My favs are the one where the last page of his library book is missing and the poison pen letter episode - and obviously the one where he is a blood donor:-)

Thanks Whetstone. The phrase "what's the SP"? as in 'what's the story' used to be quite common when I was growing up but you don't hear it as much these days, other than in reference to racing.
