I obviously didn't have the original version to begin with as I could only find five of the six words and phrases, still, got there in the end.

Thanks to Skylark for a really fun crossword and endgame:-)

.... one outstanding query ..

9 - Saint in council knew key worker (7)

I have the answer but can't see what part "key" plays. It's not used for the extra letter and, as far as I can see, the answer would be exactly the same if it wasn't there - what have I missed?

Brendan, I just took it as a more defining definition - and reasonably topical. Since the pandemic we're now used to the term 'key worker'. A few decades ago, the answer to that would be Typist! I don't think I'd have been happy with just 'worker' , it's a bit too vague.

Okay, thanks Malone. I asked because Chambers gives "key worker" as "someone from social services who takes responsibility for individual cases or projects". I did initially wonder if the 'keys' in question were going to relate to keyboard operators or maybe a musician but, like you, I'm happy with definition and agree that they are, indeed, key workers:-)

Thanks, Brendan. The definition of 'key worker' has definitely broadened since Covid!

Are the highlighted words all horizontal or vertical?
Are there 47 cells to be highlighted, just one of which is in the changed phrase?

The changed phrase isn't one of the six - there are three of each vertical/horizontal.
