Many thanks for that Grayfriar. I have to head out soon but will work on it once I get back.

I really enjoyed this puzzle. It was clever to link the featureless character per top row with the broken partly-featureless character given by the last 6 letters of the bottom row. His 25d is one of my favourite beers.

Yes that seems to work. Well spotted. I have never tasted his beer. I put in a different letter to you in the short unclued one in the bottom row. This leads to a different hero upon which the title of the book per top row is based. I think references to anagrams in this thread may have misled you. The relevant items are broken rather than anagrammed.

You might have the correct version though. It would not be the first time that there have been two solutions.

Many thanks once again Grayfriar. I got back later than I had intended last night so have just looked at it again. That I could not see what is quite obvious shows yet again my Achilles' heel when it comes to word searches. Even last week's 6 letter one took me forever.

No problem, hope you enjoyed the rest of it; I thought it was a very clever puzzle.
