Hi jigjag, GA US state, GE country that was formerly part of the USSR.

I believe GE is the country, GA is the US State.

Can somebody please explain the parsing of 17 across?
Title crew accordingly (b)rand vessel

Grunger above says it should be crews but I still don't understand; took the b out as the extra letter and have a word meaning title so the word play has crew = posse? vessel = ship? how does the rest fit?

Thank you jigjag, even with the help above I was still trying to get ssor from accordingly and rand, and I was mesmerised by rand meaning border or margin

Back after a very long weekend in crossword purdah. I have a full grid and have made the necessary change. to one entry. What I can't see despite the reference to the checked and unchecked letters in previous posts is the trickster. A nudge or more in the right direction would be much appreciated.

Typical -no sooner had i posted I found it. The curse of the wrong letter strikes again.
