Lewap's earlier hint should help with Make off... "What is rugby? What is football?" The wordplay only accounts for two letters (word for plan minus M)

Morning all,
Managed to make headway with this after a decent night's sleep. I have four of the five synonyms, (8, 10, 5 and 8).That leaves me the last 11-letter one but brain has reached 'stop' mode and the dog is waiting for his delayed walk!
I know CD and Loge had an exchange earlier in the thread but hint would be much appreciated, first and last letters perhaps? Thanks.

To be fair loge, the preamble does reference unchecked letters in the characters that need to be completed

CD was correct and I was wrong. Look up synonyms for the word on thesaurus.com and there's only one 11-letter word given.

I am grid staring and now doubting one of my answers. Does the "what mates at work might form" answer begin with U, or is it the word that precedes that one? The U answer gives me 3 clashes, the other gives me none - but gives me different unches in the down answers in columns 13 and 15.
