Sorry, should have said the answer comes from anagram of 3 words when you had only asked for assistance on first word.

Winnie - replying to your post 73 (dated 22/09);As I mentioned a few days ago, I have completed all except number 97, which I am virtually certain ends with a letter "T". However, I continue to work on the likely answer, but so far no joy!! (Someone mentioned Howard Carter in an earlier post, but his main function was a word which contained not 12, but 13 letters, so I have shelved that. There is, however an alternative spelling of it, containing the requisite 12 letters.)

please can anyone help with a clue for No 50

Hello Dougglas, thanks for your reply - I was beginning to think everyone had tuned out !! I have found the alternative spelling too, and if by mid Nov. I have not 'cracked' this clue, I will probably resort to this answer. But I am still trying to beat the 'little brute'!!

Headley re clue 50. For 'form' think 'classroom' and then you might get the answer.

I've decided to go with Egyptologist for 97. If you google it, the first thing it says is archaeologist and re the 'old housing' - the pyramids are old and they housed the bodies of the pharaohs.

Thanks ladybee re 97 - that is the answer I started off with and will probably stick with. I am not happy with the alternative spelling of the answer beginning with A.

I,ve finished and will stick with A..t for97. But not happy with 72 - unless settle means pay, ends T. Struggling with 81, I have same answer as others, early morning meal, but apart from meal don,t see how the rest of the clue fits!

Hi Bazza, Re: 81. I think it is referring to the fact that when spin bowlers bowl, they want the ball to turn or 'break' to deceive the batsmen - they may want it to 'break fast'. Perhaps not 100% convincing, but that's how I see it anyway!
