I like mattrom's creativity @ 27, aristo @ 10, BBM2 @ 16 & fiery @ 33 but I'm also voting for jono's &lit @ 14.
FWIW, as it stands I think mattrom @ 7 is an indirect compound anagram but would be "valid" if it began "This" and if so would have been on my shortlist.

I took Mattrom's @7 as a subtractive anagram.

I liked jono @14, tyke51 @22, and mattrom @27.

Hi rossim, it's effectively a subtractive/additive hence compound anagram : here (A (a synonym rather than direct fodder ) + B)* = C*. To indicate the synonym is the required entry/answer "This" (or "These" if appropriate) clarifies.

I saw that Aristophanes minus sharpens = iota and didn't try to go any further than that.

I see that the voting is well under way. I make it as 15 setters entered, although I make no guarantees on my counting now that I am retired. About four and a half hours left to vote.
