For 7D, the "of booze" part may be UK specific and it refers to how much you are supposed to drink (yeah right)

*maximum amount you are supposed to drink obvs. Yeah right.

As my degree was in maths I know they are invertible though so it's all fine.

First one in a long time I solved without consulting the forum. And I did it in one sitting!

We have the same quantity of booze in Canada too.

Agree with the consensus that this was an easy one, but the clues were mostly good enough to make it still enjoyable. Did not know the word at 21a, but it was clearly initial letters. My definite favorite was the twist on the Everyman clue at 20.

One gripe though - terrible homophone clue at 2d.

The hompohone part of 2D was only the first 4 letters though so it was fine I thought, did take a while to parse though. Maybe you thought the entire first word was a homophone and missed another indicator, I did that at first.

Mostly very easy, though I did write OENOPHILE at 22a first - I thought that an anagram of "one" was involved.

I've never seen 21a spelled like that, and I would quibble with the definition for 6d - it's approximately where it is, but it isn't it!

Similar experience to others. Agree with your comments on 21a and 6d Chris. Thanks for clarifying 2d PS, I’d missed the intended parsing

Hi everyone. Enjoyed this, pretty easy in the end but took me a while to get going. FOI 1a, LOI 11a which I just couldn’t get despite being sure that I knew how the clue worked. Got it in the end. Agreed with comments about 6d, but google tells me it’s a dated term, so ok I suppose. COD 13a cos it has a smooth surface, not true of most of the clues imo. Oh, and I wouldn’t spell 21a like that either, but others might I suppose. Best wishes to all!

Likewise I was slow at the start, but once I got the long ones it was very enjoyable. I guessed 14a was a rhyme of 17a, which helped

I agree with the comments on 2d, 6d and 21a. I'm also not sure if I've parsed 19d correctly

I enjoyed 1a as I know the area, but I did like the twist in 20d, so that's my COD too
