7. Grand R is the 'supreme king, with Viz and ie, both meaning 'that is' inside. Grand Viz ie r.

26 Domestic, quarrel (police are often called to 'domestics'!). Dome, head +Stic(k), rod snapped off, last letter removed.

26a DOMESTIC - Rod snapped off, stick minus the k. Top of head - dome.
Domestic - a type of argument/quarrel.

6d is podiatrists - footmen. Pod + diar -t-rists.

17 Across - the golf club is the R & A. You then put "W" + "AND" inside and add the "N", ending up with "RWANDAN", an African.

17a R and A - golf club + W + N = Rwandan.
