Hi ParadigmShifter
22d was my LOI, I'm pretty sure it's a homonym

Hi, Paradigmshifter. The definition is a legal term for children but was also used colloquially in Nigeria (back in the 70s at least)

Many thanks, Jono, for your explanations.

I thought of 22 as a double def. "Go away" instead of "go out" makes it a little murkier. If it is meant to be a homonym, that's really pushing it, given that the entry is two syllables.

Yeah I just found it on a thesaurus site as a synonym for "family", but I'd not heard that before.

????? = children/offspring" is a relatively common (IMO) cryptic crossword device. I solve a lot of online puzzles (daily Guardian and Indy) and estimate that I encounter it at least once a week.

Edit by Admin - I have been requested to remove the answer, I believe hints were requested, not the answer.

I’m completely stumped with 13d. I know the tree but cannot see where the hives beekeeper comes in. Any help in parsing this would be gratefully received.

The second word of 13 is (a synonym of "hives") with one letter removed ("beekeeper finally leaves").
