Everything done bar the final step. I have located a thematic something 'in a straight line' and changed 4 letters in it always leaving real words but what I fail to see yet is how to complete the 'description of one from the group that should be highlighted'.

If you put in the thematic date for it (in the local language) and add the 4 letter highlighting you should get a search result that links them.

...I'm assuming you're also using the 3 letters after your altered word?

sorry, for the search you need the local language for the highlighted word too.

I see that the wiki entry has all of the details - check the entry for the relevant date.

thanks drxx. Yes, I'm using the three letters at the end too and I know the thematic date but what I don' t see is what letters should be highlighted. The ones that have been altered? They aren't consecutive.

There’s only one four letter member of the group around the perimeter which kind of gives it away. Check the Wikipedia page for the thing revealed by the extra words to see the connection

The specific date of the event is in the wiki entry, aspria - and each day has its own thematic item (there's only one possibility in the grid, 4 letters reading top to bottom).

So we just highlight those 4 letters in the perimeter? Still don't see why!

Seen it now. Thanks for nudges. Seems to be a bit of confusion about the dates on the internet but it must be that. Good puzzle but went out with a whimper rather than a bang IMHO.
