This separate thread was originally intended for thanks, appreciation, general stuff, without giving any hints or answers. It seems to be seriously under-used now, I'm not sure if it's needed?

It's needed this week, to say how utterly brilliant this puzzle is! A strong rival to the Poe one for POTY.

How long did it take you loge? I’m slowly cold solving.
I see last week’s posts have reached 190! Is that a record?

I don't keep track of solving times, but let's say it took me considerably less time than last week's and the recent Sabre. That's not to say it was easy - far from it - but if any puzzle justifies carte blanche and jumbled entries (the latter a bugbear of mine) it's this one. It seemed impenetrable at the outset, but once the penny drops it falls into place. And no need at all for internet searches. Yippee!

Surely, Loge, if you’ve done it in just two hours, it can’t be that challenging, so I’m surprised you rate it so highly?

I’ve worked out a viable pattern for where all the entries could go, so I hope that pattern is unique. I’ve also solved about 15 clues, but a long way to go yet

Dylan, I rate puzzles on how much I enjoy them rather than how difficult they are. I far prefer a two hour romp to a five hour slog, though that’s a subjective opinion of course. This one seems impossible until you get that “oh YES” moment, after which it’s a fairly nice home straight. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did 😀

Thanks, loge. So far I mostly stared at it during lunch. Only a few clues solved so far. I will be looking forward to that "moment."

Pretty much the same for me. On first pass I only solved 6 clues so still have a way to go, but am spurred on by Loge's very positive review:-)

MathProf, it must be great being in a time zone where you get the puzzle early in the day. I’m on Central European Time which means I don’t get it until 5pm. Which has often meant a ridiculously late dinner!
