30: Very good = A1; about = RE; add anagram of LEAD, answer is dog breed.
36: Check earlier in the thread for clues; there are some good ones.
40: Conservative=C, nincompoop=ASS, add 3-letter girls name, get starchy food.
57: Anagram of NAVAL ICE, ooastal Spanish town.
Look through the WHOLE thread, you're missing many good clues earlier in it.

Nearly done - but stuck on 16 Famous bather ... and 78 RAF officer ....

Any hints please?
