Well I could do with 2 nudges.
I have 3 options for 32d but none of them make sense
Got 6 of the 8 examples and highlighted 30 cells so far. Have looked for the two "in name only" but don't really know what I am after.

32dn has two meanings. First one is the first two words.

Tatters, my answer to 32 D is a double definition, I think!

I didn't worry about the 'in name only' part, I just looked for likely candidates. From the number of cells you've highlighted, I think you've still to get one medium sized answer, the other a little bigger...

I'm at a similar stage Tatters, although my 6 add up to 31.

Are the 46 highlighted cells meant to represent something - if so I havent seen it, but that could be because I didnt have anything other than my pencil to hand when "highlighting"!

A gentle one this week, but great fun and well constructed so thank you Hedge-sparrow. My only loose end is the significance of the pairs of letters but it's far too early for thematic hints so I will keep plugging away.
