Thanks all, now finished. Doh for not spotting 22d.

I'm puzzled by 17a. I have "someone who sticks", but, apart from the first letter, I can't see any of the parsing.

If it's any consolation Richard, 22d (kept trying to make 'tope' work) and 13a were my LOI.

17a - Single letter "crossword initially" + 5 letter "submit" around 2 letter "Tramp".

Ah! Thanks Brendan. I was on the wrong track with "submit".

Yes, tope with top “e” then dope and “is there anywhere in the world where dope is a type of drink, or slang for a drink?” Cue much head scratching and a “how did I miss that?” when given the hints here.

Forgot to say earlier that overall I really enjoyed this.

Anyone know if we are back to actual prizes for this (not that they amount to much!) The pdf print out doesn't have the usual blurb at the bottom saying " no prizes for the time being etc..."

minty - I have tried for years to get the italics facility to work on this site. How did you manage it?
