At the end I want to change the contents of 3 cells not 4. One of the four letters is in a cell that already contains the correct letter.

Hm, I changed 4 letters. One possible trap is the spelling of the original 24a? Note you're replacing one phrase with another.

Hi novice, 1a is gawped but entered as gapped so "w" is the first "correct" letter referred to in the preamble, continue in clue order minding 6 answers are entered unaltered.
