I enjoyed this, but got very stuck on the NW corner for ages, as I forgot the crosswordese for ‘swans’ and although I had the right Blyton, couldn’t see how she fitted in.

The west side of the puzzle definitely appears to have been more difficult than the east - at least judging by the comments.

Hi, all. Started this late in the day. Thanks for all the comments - v helpful. Agree it's a mix of easy & tricky.
LOI was 7D which I liked, but COD was 18D.

I didn't enjoy it quite so much this week - a number of the clues felt contrived - but that might be down to me as I have toothache! But some of them read better after I digested the forum's comments e.g. femmenoire's on 24a. Thanks, Brendan, for help with 23a - and me a golfer too! I didn't like the answer to 11d - I'd have thought it meant the opposite. COD 13d just to be different.
