You are right ChrisE.
I have some seeds from one example of 11a that are germinating now! It just takes longer to reach the flowering stage.
More than one species uses that name which is why I'm not generally fond of common names.

...actually, they are corms rather than bulbs, I think (very technical difference!)

It depends on which genus you are talking about (mine actually make bulbs) but yes I agree, the C genus which I think the setter is referring to makes corms.

I was a bit puzzled by the reference to several possibilities, as I've only come across (and grow) the C one. What genus are yours, rossim?

As usual (probably I'm better at guessing purely from letters than parsing), a small answer is the one giving trouble:
6d Heard Stand 11 is empty
_ A _ E
Any hints would be welcome

It’s a homophone for stand as in “put up with” and it’s also synonym for 11ac.

Hi Docrum,

I always find those shorter clues the hardest, especially with that letter pattern.

11a - Homophone/"heard" of "stand" as in 'put up with' or 'endure' - definition is a synonym of 11a and also of "empty".

Stuck on 22a. Final one.
What's the definition?
Does the solution start out with a Shakespeare term, in reverse?
