Thanks tatters, I don't often say thanks but I have used this every single week for a year ? so, MUCH appreciated. It makes my week.
Also - I did Listener 4458 today as I had time on my hands - you posted it last week - so thanks for that too. A very nice puzzle. Great to see similarities and differences with the more recent closely related crossword.

It makes my week too. I am, however, prepared to pay 24 quid a month for the pleasure. Thereby contributing to the setters' fee fund, and getting access to the newspaper and a raft of puzzles. I think that's a bargain, don't you?

I quite agree, Bobbycollins. The economics of newspapers are perilous enough without people being encouraged to avoid supporting them. Tatters’ “service” began during the first lockdown as I understand it, and there were many grateful quotes from those who said it was the only way they could get the puzzle. I didn’t understand that then, and I still don’t. They clearly have an internet connection, and very likely a printer, so the only reason I could see was that they were too lazy to subscribe or unwilling to pay. Each to their own conscience, of course, but please don’t dress it up as some kind of COVID public service. Pure disingenuous hokum.

The last person who made this point was hounded off the forum, so I’ll probably have to get my coat ...
