I quite agree, Bobbycollins. The economics of newspapers are perilous enough without people being encouraged to avoid supporting them. Tatters’ “service” began during the first lockdown as I understand it, and there were many grateful quotes from those who said it was the only way they could get the puzzle. I didn’t understand that then, and I still don’t. They clearly have an internet connection, and very likely a printer, so the only reason I could see was that they were too lazy to subscribe or unwilling to pay. Each to their own conscience, of course, but please don’t dress it up as some kind of COVID public service. Pure disingenuous hokum.
