The end of a 4 hour watch on a ship (4,1,5,4)

i think it must something EIGHT BELLS, but i can't think what the first two words might be

This seems to have stumped everyone

The nearest I can come up with is Four o'clock bell but clearly that's not right.
Please could you tell us the answer when you know it?

"Eight bells, and all's well" is a nautical expression, but does not fit, either.

Ringing of eight bells signals the end of (most) watches on a ship.

btw quiz question - how many ropes are there on the Cutty Sark?

The strikes of the bell were usually in pairs to make counting easier. However you work the 1,5 part of the clue, it doesn't seem possible to include "eight".
re Cutty Sark I think the answer is zero, chris, but it's a loosely worded question. The rigging was done with wire, but there would have been some rope. for example for reefing

I am reliably informed there wer two - the bell rope and the tow rope. All the other "ropes" had other names - sheets, shrouds, halyards etc.

There are many pubs (remember them?) called `Ring O`Bells` and Eight Bells seems right for end of watch ... so
