Unfortunately I didn't get to use any of my new highlighters and began to wonder if I was missing something in regards the end game - but alas no, it appears not 😢

That said, I thought the clues were very good and didn't find them as easy as others seem to have.

Thanks, Brendan. It's a pity your highlighters were totally redundant. I think I found this puzzle even more disappointing because it came the day after the wonderful, clever, well-crafted Inquisitor. This one was just nowhere near as satisfying!

I suspect that those of us addicted to Richard Osmans House of Games got a very quick "in" to this crossword!!

I too spent an age looking for the game mentioned in the some of the previous posts, assuming it was part of hidden endgame!

I know think those posts were just referring to 24a where, if you're not careful, you can put in the wrong 4 letter game.

I could be wrong, of course.

I found it the easiest EV for a long time. Have I missed something? I had no need to use the “help “ with the letters not checked by normal entries.

I don't think there is any endgame, as such. My thinking now is that those earlier posts referred to 24a where, in addition to the correct answer, there is also a game called SOLO that fits the letter pattern but, of course, doesn't match up with MANIA CHAV etc.
