Just appeared on my phone and am amazed to finish it in a record time for me. Thanks for a couple of nice hints. Favourite was definitely 9A but lots of good ones.

I've just realized how elegant the grid pattern is.

I think I must be one of the few who actually buys the paper! Although we had the "Everyman in the clue" clue at 19d, this felt different this week - a bit more convoluted. Multiple Everymen?
We have had Fred's accomplice before so my COD was 14d and I liked 7d as well.
Grateful for parsing of 4d, 15a and 18d but can't see where 26a comes from. Assuming it all means glutton, I can see Stu and maybe the piping but the rest escapes me. Any explanation gratefully received!

2 "goods" and Stu around a musical piping sound

Loads of anagrams compared to yesterdays prize which got me well into it quickly so was a welcome break.....I found it loads easier using a paper version / pencil and pad...anyone else ?

Hi Tony,

I do the Guardian and Everyman online but I'd be lost without my trust pencil and paper for all the working out:-)

What a frustrating day. My phone updated yesterday which I had assumed had something to do with my Guardian app version not appearing but thanks to all your posts I realise i was not alone. So, bought an actual paper. Then it took me half an hour to find the Everyman crossword page! Found many clues took a lot of pondering and working around options. Enjoyed the spoonerism, my COD 9a. Lots of adverts now, aaaaagh. Now to watch Bale's brace. Hope to join earlier next week.

I prefer to solve online although I always have a scribble pad handy.

However, having a paper version makes it far easier to refer back to the clue numbers when reading the comments here.

I liked 3d and 22d but COD for me was 9a.
No rhyming pair this week.
