Thanks Brendan v helpful.

In this part of the state there is usually snow on the ground for 4-6 months of the year. We just call it “Winter”! Water vapour coming off Lake Michigan creates “lake effect” snow so we get more snow here than on the west side of the lake. You need skiwear to go outside for much of the winter. Snowmobiling, cross-country skiing and ice fishing are popular winter pursuits. By February though, anyone who hasn’t had a break from it has had more than enough of the snow.

I know lots of people who are “snowbirds” - they spend a the worst months in Florida, Arizona or Hawaii or at least have a few weeks elsewhere to get some respite.
Really was awful the lack of preparedness for cold weather in Texas. I hope lessons were learned.

You're spot on about the preparation or lack of FemmeNoire.

I used to much of the year in Montreal and they had it down to fine art:-)

Hello all. FOI 1a. LOI 13d. COD for me are 9a and 21a. Some tricky parsing in many places so others sentiments resonate with me... got the words but not sure how! Getting jab today and to let you know for over 60s you can book on line without needing to wait to hear from your GP. www.nhs.uk/book-a--coronavirus-vaccination did not even need NHS number (my wife could not find hers!).

Morning all. Unlike Michigan, it's bright sunshine in South Devon. Particularly enjoyed the construction of 4D. Don't understand how 6D is parsed, nor 9A where I see the enclosed 3 letters but can't see where the surrounding 4 come from.
Liked the rhyming pair, but still stuck on 14 & 25A, and 13 & 18D.
18D seems to be an anagram of a 4 letter word for travel aimlessly & 3 letters from Golfs (definition Creeps?)
Any hints welcome, oh wise ones!

Enjoyed that. Pretty much raced through it although some of the parsing alluded me at first. 16d still does but no need for hints just yet.
Was sure I’d seen 25a before and sure enough it appeared in Everyman 3,851 back in August last year (8d) with a slight variation.
Had my jab last week Yevrah, looks like my solving times have improved, coincidence? ;-)

Hi Barry,
6d is in reverse two letters for the Spanish four letters for a German city and one letter for Earl
Your missing letters in 9a are an irrational number and two letter abbreviation for spiritual studies (at school say) - all in reverse

Yes Brendan, it is most likely by another setter. We don’t see the usual two long rhyming pairs today. A Good puzzle, nevertheless.
