Greetings from the sandbank
The easiest grid fill I can remember. Finished in times to watch Wales-England - normally I would be there in my debenture seats with one of my pups. Two question if I may. Is the end-game simply colouring in a large letter, or am I missing something? Secondly, despite the first hint hint above, I still can't parse 17 down. What has the central three-letter word to do with aged 24?
Many thanks to all who keep this thread going

Williamseal - look at 24d then look up the middle three letters of 17d in Chambers

I finished ages ago - enjoyable puzzle - but still can't parse 28d. I assume the last letter of steely is the misprint but can't for the life of me see what nomads have to do with anything. Any hints gratefully received.

Planks: take the last three letters and reverse them - Chambers will give you the answer. But 17 down !!?

Daw is an archaic term for 24d as = when, hope this helps. Thanks for the hint re 28

Glad to see I’m not the only one unsure about the final stage after all, William (I posted about this earlier). I’d go for colouring in the lot, but in my book that’s not really “drawing”. Others no doubt differ about that and they’re probably right!

Another straightforward puzzle with a frustrating endgame...
"Symbol" is rather ambiguous if what is required is a letter. The obvious letter would link nicely with the title of the poem, but for some reason the BRB does not have it with this meaning although it is widely used. (The same goes for its opposite partner.) Or maybe it's an abbreviation of the last word in the poem...
I'd go for an outline of the letter in the blank cells – TWO dimensional rather than ONE, as loge mentioned in post 8! This is a more satisfactory interpretation of "drawing...in the... blank cells" than deploying the highlighter pen to fill in what is already obvious by virtue of the cells being blank.
Anyone have a better idea?

Jif, the abbreviation is part of the NATO alphabet but isn’t in Chambers (as far as I know). No problem with that but I’m still not absolutely sure whether the letter should be as you’d normally write it, a 2-D outline or take up the whole space. Glad it’s not just me 😊
