[I liked faiton@20 but like it even more now following Aristo’s noting of the Andres Serrano reference, sorry I missed it]

congrats paulh & thanks mattrom.

Interesting. The preference voting scheme really got a workout. The winning clue never got the most votes from anyone, but appeared on 9 ballots whereas no other clue appeared on more than 5.

Well done Paulh - thanks for a good contest Mattrom - nice clips but I don`t recommend painting with Radium!
Thanks Spike2, Jimmygtal, Paul & MPRS, good to see the votes spread around.

Congrats paulH. Thanks mattrom.

When I saw the titles of your clips, I thought "quibble time", but no. I can think of other paintings to include, but really can't argue with the ones chosen, and I have seen several of them in life. I'm particularly pleased that the commentary pointed out that the Night Watch was so-called because of the brown varnish. (I prefer Ghirlandiao's* Last suppers to Leonardo's, but that's not a generally-held opinion.)

One minor point on the second one: it's not lead that is ground up to make lead white, but basic lead carbonate.

We saw a Hopper exhibition in London a few years ago. They were fascinating. Every picture featured windows and/or doors, and if there was more than one person present, they weren't looking at each other. I wonder what psychology this represents?
