Well, I could do with a hint... cannot see a way in yet...

Just starting to look at this now. 14 across and 9 down right looks like a promising way in.

Yep, think the interplay of 9 down both left and right with 14 across is the way to go

Filled the grid, no idea what is going on with the corners. Have a good idea what 3 numbers to enter, just no idea which to go where, can't make head nor tail of the message or see any link between adjacent numbers.

Hoping posting will provide inspiration...

substitute letter values from the puzzle rather than the alphabet perhaps

.. or look up the 8 letter word followed by "numbers" ... that may help too

Grid completed, but I can’t make sense of the four letter word, en route to India?!

LOL. Temporarily make the 4th letter the same as the first and have another stab
