On 19a I took the meaning of caravan to be a procession of these. The answer is in a caravan perhaps

Where is Brendan this week? I hope it is well with you. Relief to know that the early starters are Americans and not super night owls! I got through this fairly quickly once I got rperly started with 13d. I chuckled at 16a which is my COD. Enjoyed reading the comments as always.

All is well, thank you for asking. I had an early night, well, early for me, and I've had a busy morning so haven't got round to doing this crossword yet. Still, it looks a good one so I'll do it this evening, in time to watch the Super Bowl:-)

Well, that was a lot of fun and I was reassured to see I wasn't the only one who initially got the wrong land in 1d:-)

COD - 19d, an excellent clue all round.

I can't see any land but the wrong land for 1d. Could someone please tell me the letter that is not F. And is the 3rd letter R or not? I'm stuck on 9ac and the whole corner. The word for Crazy with an H inserted escapes me though I presume the first word is a familiar fallen empire. If I could get this help with 1d and 9ac maybe I'd figure out 1ac and 4d... Letter for German? Oh dear.

1d - If your answer begins with F then you have the right one. I, along with others, thought it was (Armeni)A IS A(gricultural) - which, of course, it isn't.

9a - Single letter "Republican" + 4 letter "monarchy" + 4 letter "crazy" (think 'nocturnal flying mammal') around H(ard).

PS.....

4d - The letter for "German" is G rather than the usual D and it goes between first 3 letters are what Baden Baden is famous for and 3 letters for "throw" reversed/"up" - definition is "dish".

1a - Is a straight anagram.
