First-time poster. Would anyone be kind enough to post a nudge for 8? I'm astonished to have solved the rest...

Thanks prospero & luftmensch, I've managed to solve it now. I'd thought of that parsing, but really struggled to find a suitably crabby 3 letter word. It turns out I've never heard of the song either, so I'm not too upset with myself for not getting the clue.

I have 3 correct I hope - an angelic instrument? - but cannot see any thematic connection to complete 3 for which I have *e*l*e. A steer would be appreciated. Also a steer for the original solution to 26.

3 is not an instrument - the "old player" played soccer.

26 refers to the weather in 'arare compared to 'elsinki (or anywhere else in Finland, on average).

Thanks buddy. For 3 I had made an anagram of most of Hampshire (i.e. less H) and came up with Seraphim (an old musical instrument)! No wonder I could not find a switch! Thank you; all now completed.
