@Tyke - you may have a point... but I think you've got to channel your inner goat...
For surely a ruminant's life is full of worry about violent death? So while we see a near vertical cliff face as a place of great danger, the goat, having mastered climbing must see it as the
safest place to hang out - after all, which of their predators can harm them while they're up there?!
Do any readers live near a vast, vertiginous dam populated with wild goats? Could we test Tyke's theorem by leaving out a block of salt at the bottom and seeing what happens?
