I had nesters for 89 across and nut cutlet for 92 across, which means 86 down is ?n?u?y. Going round in circles!

Answer to 86 is UNRULY. U (for all to see) N(ew) , RUL (shirt for rule, I.e. judge) Y(ork). The whole clue refers to the ‘naughty’ in the themed clue

Apologies but when I seemed to agree with Malone I was sure I had it.
She is a brilliant solver and I've never known her to be wrong!
(It's not so easy without the whole crossword in front of you).

Thanks,Rossim. I did just solve the clue in isolation, but I should have twigged there was something more going on,I'd helped with another slightly odd clue earlier!

I didn't realize that Malone is a she. You just see a name on here. I definitely agree with the brilliant solver assessment though.
