Is it a themed puzzle? Wicked works as the answer to the wordplay in the clue - Wick, town in north-east, and Ed being 'England vacated', take everything out of E nglan d.

A Happy New Year to all and to let me start the Hogmanay Crossword, I can't quite parse an answer to my last remaining clue.

The definition is 'for all to see'. There's the usual New York with a 5-letter word test/judge inside, with one letter removed ('short').

Your N seems wrong.
