Could the new word have to be somehow related to the previous word, or is that making things too difficult?

You have the right idea, mattrom. Each solver sets the next clue.

It's not exactly like the previous Clue Chain threads. Anything goes as far as a clue, given the usual cryptic crossword conventions. If you want to "regift" a clue, that's ok too. All for fun.
