Hi Adnarim,

That's what I had although I initially thought "consumed by" was a containment indicator for "personnel" but it just wouldn't parse like that.

Thanks Adnarim! I’d only thought of “consumed” as the signifier for one word around another, rather than the more integral part of the def. I can now do this morning’s extremely wet-looking bike ride without this on my mind!

Ah, thanks for explaining 25. I also fell into the ‘consumed by’ trap. Two umami’s in a week. It turns out that there aren’t many foods that begin with U. And the other one, we were treated to yesterday!

Hi all. Struggled a little in the SE corner. LOI was 20D which I enjoyed after some initial irritation! Also don't know that use of Pet (5D).

Enjoyed the construction of 7, 10 & 27, especially "increasingly warped".

So Brendan, a hammer, i won't let this forum be taken over by EPL but good to know. Just returned to the forum after sleeping badly. Very worthwhile to see the parsing and explanations for some of the answers. Now I get warped badly, had also assumed the 'consumed'. Had not looked up the Spanish wine but now am wiser. I thought 1d was a truly excellent clue and could easily have been a COD but 23a made ma LOL - and who doesn't enjoy a good laugh:-)

Morning all. Struggling today - 6 still unsolved. I’ll just ask for help with 10a. I’ve got all the down clues apart from 5 and I’m pretty sure they’re all correct but I haven’t a clue, (no pun etc..), what could go in or where to start. Help greatly appreciated. (I won’t say who I support in case it reduces the helpful responses)
