I should have more faith in myself as Malone often tells me. I had two of those answers but could not parse.

Plodding along with this and still to make sense of the multiple letter squares but, for the moment, help with parsing 15a (which looks like a 'rope') and a hint for 8a for which I have the last 3 letters would be gratefully received.
