It depends on whether you want the whole number in Roman, or built up from its parts.

ChrisE, I think most of the clues are for the word. I guess a clue for "56" should indicate a (2) at the end, assuming it was entered as an Arabic numeral. (I don't know if we want to get into Roman numerals as in last week's Listener.) One entry had (5-3) to indicate the English word for the number.

Maybe we just vote on "GENRE" and everyone attempting "56" gets a participation trophy? ; )
