The 8 is the misprint - change it to another number

Sorry, Brendan, I was perhaps too cryptic. If you change it to 'Attempt to 2 [Down]...'

My answer to 2d does mean "dupe" as in 'trick' and I have a ? next to it because it's another where I know the correct letter is O but can't see what changes?

.....unless it's "that is Over"? But how does an O mean change 8 to 2?

2 reads dupe / that is over slow learn getting upset

IE (that is) over (containing) DULL reversed --> ILLUDE

so 24 is "attempt to 2" ="attempt to illude"= LIE

I don't understand your question. In clue 24, 8 is a misprint and it needs to be changed to a 2 for the clue to work.

It has nothing to do with the misprinted O in clue 2a.

and by "2a" I meant "2d"

No, what I'm asking is how did you know to look in clue 2 when it said 8?

For example, in clue 5a, it say "light" when it should say "right" so the correct letter is R

Now, in 24a the correct letter is O but it's athe number 8 that changes to the number 2 - how or what changed to O so that you knew to swap 8 for 2?
