Oh dear. I thought we'd have seen the last of these after Paul's second fictitious books and authors got a drubbing on Fifteen Squared last year. That's a morning I'll never get back.

I don't get the Poet Laureate reference in 31. Is it something to do with rap?

Well, it was fun for the most part but spoilt by the usual Guardian political slant which is too blunt an instrument to be witty (for me, at least).
Also, 2 down would seem to work either way (although the protagonist's name would be more credible with the colourful interpretation, I think).

no, I'm sorry drxx - didn't mean to sound ungrateful. That's what we come here for, after all. But, while trying to get "haj" without "a" to work, the envelope of "great" and "journey" appeared and - as with Einstein (apparently) - everything chimed in and lit up together ... Incidentally, I wouldn't regard that as a politically biased clue. Would have thought it true from any political standpoint.
