I presume it is a debut. Quick fill but enjoyable outcome - so well done Karla. Made a present change not to need google, synonym finder and big red book only a couple of times...

Agree with the above, very quick but pleasant enough. Also took me a while to spot the hidden message, partly because I was somewhat confused by the random use of 'advice' in the preamble, which doesn't seem to make any sense to me.

Thanks, tatters - I'm surprised the setter's clever use of the clue numbers didn't get a mention (it must have made setting the puzzle quite a bit harder).

Drxx - what's clever about the clue numbers? Assumed from your comment the missing words would relate to their clue numbers, but can't spot it on re-examining the clues.
