"Role of singer that comes in last bit of Idomeneo (7)"

I have S - C - N - O

I think the answer must be SECONDO (which would fit with the "singer" part of the clue, but I can't see how the rest of it works. If anyone can explain the parsing, I'd be most grateful.

The last bit of Idomeneo is the letter "o".
It is the second "o" in Idomene"o".

I thought it was "comes in last" = second, a bit of a cheek! When I came second in our school marathon, I would have been mortified if I'd been considered "last" - glad I was wrong:-)

Well deserved, Rusty, well deserved! I think many of us didn't see anything more than last, second... and weren't convinced, but came up with nothing else..

PS I'm sure your Eye Cup thing is equally correct, but it's not as impressive - and the clue definitely isn't!
