On a second pass finally twigged 1,24, of course! And 27d really doesn’t leave any doubt about the intended spelling does it!

Lot of anagrams today and it went smooth. Is the actor in 18d related to the theme, since he portrayed the character 4d?

This is funny...I misidentified the theme. My first guess seemed "too obvious", but I ignored that and jumped to a wrong conclusion (which does have some "overlap" with the correct theme, though). Took some reflection to correct the error.

Sorry mathi, I misread...the answer to your question is "yes".

Thanks, so it is the more general theme that includes 1d, 22a, 6d, etc.

Yes, I see his books and characters. But is there a more general theme about movie names? I see many.

Perhaps there's a secondary theme, as 13d 8d directed 18d as 20a.
