Hi Bagheera,

25a A (from the clue) + (g)URU after/following (meditatio)N (finally)

6d "rocker" = GREBO around (starle)T + AGAR

Thanks Brendan, but why is "rocker" GREBO - that's not a word I've ever encountered (though Nanny Ogg's cat was Greebo, I think!)

Hi Chris,

It's a slang word for heavy metal fans and, more recently those of grunge - usually with "long and unkempt" hair.

When I was growing up there was a "biker" bar nearby and I would often hear the patrons referred to as "grebos".

Thanks brendan - I had just found that via Google. Pretty obscure! I wonder if the cat's name was related?

Maybe:-)

Even though I was more of a "mod" I knew some of the regulars in the biker/grebo bar and would go there from time to time. I saw Def Leppard there in the late 1970's - back when the drummer had two arms!!

I'm guessing everyone else has moved on but I'm still struggling with some of this from Saturday (never say die!). I haven't been able to answer 6d, 11a (which I'm kicking myself about as so many people have it as COD) and 18d which I have as m?s?u?s? Any help gratefully received so I can get in with my week!

Hi lucy
I've moved to the extent of having thrown it away! Could you remind of the clues, please?

Thanks Chrise,
In the meantime I looked up aristocrats and got 5d. 11a I have I?D???T?D? the clue is Waiter offstage being pinned down by Casanova, ending in hilarity. And 18d I have M?S?U?S? Large rodent: let me think about that climbing over fruit. I am assuming Mus ending in e but can't get further than that...

11 is a lovely clue - the stage is theatrical
18 doesn't end in E. It's quite hard - rodent is the definition, but not a well-known one; fruit is technically correct, but most people would think of it as a vegetable.
