Sorry, the setter was kt17, not tyke51! (I knew it had a number in it!)

Crikey! Thankyou. Feels a bit odd to be speechless in a text environment.....
As a once upon a time John Mayall fan I was pleased to see a clue based on Laurel Canyon (Blues from Laurel Canyon was one of the first LPs I ever bought and I always wanted to visit the place).
Thanks for the prize - if I can't get back to swimming soon I'm going to be the same shape as Oliver Hardy (:o(

Well done granama !

Many thanks kt for a great job in charge - my inclusion of 'iconic' was to signify an iconic laurel wreath rather than a humdrum everyday garland... and of course to misdirect solvers along the yellow brick road.
I don't have a BRB - if only !

Blues from Laurel Canyon was one of my favourite albums too. When I was in a band, we used to joke about Peter Green playing his solos from a loo down the corridor!

We saw John Mayall in Manchester, His current guitarist was quite good, though I can't remember what he was called. Didn't like Mayall, though. We had gone to see the support act - Peter Green with Cozy Powell. Poor old Green seemed to have no idea where he was.

Well done Granama - thanks for hosting Kt17, not an easy one to judge!
Chrise & Granama - there`s a lovely tv prog (On Demand) called Legends of the Canyon which includes many of the bands who lived there - Mama Cass knew everybody! ( possibly in the biblical sense in some cases)

I think we must have seen Peter Green and Cozy Powell on the same tour (at the Fairfield Halls, Croydon) and he did seem a bit elsewhere...could still play a bit though. I think Mayall may have been the main act. Previous time I saw JM was when he had The Turning Point line up. Bit of a gap there!

Now I'll have to get my thinking head on for next weeks competition.

Marty I’d be delighted to gift you a BRB if you could give me an address in a way that Norah wouldn’t disapprove of.

Saw Stéphane Grappelli at the Fairfield Halls, he was pretty old but absolutely mesmerising!
