An enjoyable Everyman this week I thought.

I like 6d and 20a - my CODs.

13d was also good too - being a kiwi I had to do a bit of research to see the relevance of Tamworth.

Assuming I have the answer right for 16a (relates to 18d If I am right) I could not parse 16a so if anyone can help there I would be grateful.

Same problem here. I just can’t get the answer for 16a. All other clues are easy.

Well, I enjoyed that...I'll have to go back to look for a hint on 16a

Think Sherwood Forest...or Rain Hood.
I do not think it is a very good clue.

16a the whole clue is the definition and then each part contributes letters. But can't parse the 'criminal' part.
Also can't parse 15d.

15d: replace v with p in the synonym for struggled.

Thanks. I think I got the fat character name in 16a.

I think I’ve parsed 16a. If I am right, “criminal” is there to make you mix up the letters from the previous words in the clue. I have to say, it is just awful.

Thanks Matador. Makes sense now. Challenging for an Everyman!

I think that 16A seems to be an anagram of fat + middle letters of warrior and a three letter exclamation beginning with U meaning criminal/horrible?
