Re Tyke

It's clear I shouldn't have raised the issue in the first place, but unfortunately I did. No point denying that I'm a bit of a pedant when it comes to crossword ' liberties '. And I'm not confident of keeping my gob shut in future about this and other examples of lazy cluing.
So thanks everyone, it was fun for a while but life's too short. Dorrien, please exempt my contributions for this contest, as I shan't be checking in again.

I agree Mattrom.
I think you should reconsider.Malcolm.
Container clues are not easy to get a good surface. Mattrom managed @38.
I think discussion is a good idea but only after the result has been declared.

I take 20 to be Crusoe, non-U, scrambled, the rest being definition. Not sure about the other two.

Most of us have had tiffs here over the years, and I apparently caused pedagogue's departure, although that was through misunderstanding if my post was indeed the cause. We've all taken issue with clues, too, which is why we don't vote for them. One of the setters was once extremely upset about the Clueless winner I'd chosen. Et cetera...

Thanks Aristo and FJ. So both are indirect anagrams with subtractions as well - tough ones! I should have got the Selkirk reference though.

@Faiton. Nice one. Should it be a quarrel though?😊
