Fairly unpracticed as I am these days, took me a while to get into it — and a few words I didn't know!

Am struggling with 2d and 11a though, wondering if I'm just being dense. I suspect I know what 2d needs to be but can't parse the clue. Pointers, anyone?

2d is a 3 letter slang word for "prison" + what one might say to a loved one when they're "leaving" - definition is "work in bars" (of the musical kind)

11a If you add the answer to "balm" you get a "royal residence"
