MAETERLINCK = MATER (old lady) + E(nglish) + LINCK sounds like link (=couple). I got it by googling belgian dramatists. Apparently Maeterlinck is famous. In Belgium.

Had so many I couldn’t parse this week: and didn’t really agree with parsing or clue when it was explained!

Same here Hagleymum. EG:

50d Obliged you very informally to listen to officer (5)

55a Council not available to handle conclusion to project (5)

Middle letter of 50d is first letter of 55a. I'm thinking Major and Junta but no idea why so those could be wrong.

50 Major sounds like (to listen to) Made yer, made you, obliged you, in informal terms.

50d I think it is major since, when you have an estuary accent (like mine) it sounds like 'made you' to parse the obliged bit.

55a Junta for council with not available (n/a) woven into jut (project).

Thank you bear.
Two more, then time to surrender.
47a Winding up following chief, hardly resting (10).
Chillaxing?
5d Possibly topless May Queen, one being pursued (2,3,3).
On the run.
I get the 'onth' as a topless month, not the rest.

ER would be the Queen, but there isn't an indication that "one" should be French "un".

ChrisE, 'Un' doesn't have to be French, it's in Chambers - pronoun and noun for 'one'; also for 'him'. Mind you, it does say, before that, 'dialect'.
