Well Malcolm Georgia is fairly close to the birthplace of wine so they have more experience of making it than more westerly - or easterly countries, probably 10,000 years worth.
Much winemaking there is made in the same way as it has been for thousands of years, utilising great amphorae (kvevri) buried in the earth.
There is a powerful view that rather than civilisation having created wine, it was wine that created civilisation and that's enough of an excuse for me!
