Hi Brendan,
funny people = HOOTS (Chambers has it as 'hilarious person'), around TSP, teaspoonful or small measure, with BARS as the def.

@Aristo. Because they are tough to do?
I guess the word this week was close to the bone for you.
NY looks absolutely terrible. Things just starting here in Canada.
We shall see how our health system stands up. Will a retired doc get called up for duty?
Take care of yourself(ves).

I was just informed that 240K is a best-case estimate, assuming that people stop acting like morons. Otherwise 2.5 million.

And if you're a retired doc, yes, you will. I'm surprised you haven't been called to NY yet. God bless all those health care workers; a lot of them won't survive.

Well let's hope for the lower end of those numbers.
One of your morons is giving a press conference right now.

Aristo - your post at 47 chilled me - my younger son is a junior doctor as is his girlfriend and neither has been tested, the thinking seems to me to be ‘they’re young and healthy, so they’ll probably be all right’.

I`m afraid that, since the industrial revolution, there`s been a huge migration from the countryside to towns and cities, whose populations have soared. The last 50 years has also seen a huge growth in global air travel which has created the perfect conditions for pandemics to occur. Let`s hope science can find a speedy solution for this current emergency, but I think, in any event, we have to change the way we live our lives, otherwise history will repeat itself.
