Will, Farr, I've got H at the start of 37 D.

PS I didn't check out the themed entries - mine all seemed to work (not that this is a guarantee, of course!)

18ac. I have NEW?EAR. Can only be New Year but how does that fit the theme?

That one was clued, so not thematic.

Thanks malone. I'd been sent a copy that excluded 18ac. I made the wrong assumption it was thematic.

Thanks, The_Bard. I've no longer got my copy, so couldn't remember the clue itself, but knew there was one!

Hello Malone
No it's last week's 2447
the clue is "The cats whiskers" (5)
I have ?E?AE
The answer seems obvious, but we can't fathom the word play.
Many thanks

I had doubts about that clue too. It appears to be a simple misdirection rather than an overtly cryptic clue - 'the cat's whiskers' literally means 'the best but the answer here is just another word for 'bristles' (as you've already realised). Not a very good clue, unless I've missed something.

...copied from the other thread - just in case!
